Edina, Minn. – Wednesday, March 15 – Emanuelson-Podas (EP) announced today that Mechanical Engineer John Nordstrom, PE, has been named a Managing Partner of the firm. Nordstrom, who has served as Partner on the company’s executive leadership and management team since 2010, joined the company in the fall of 2006.
Nordstrom joins fellow EP managing partners Mike Webert, PE, Scott Vander Heiden, PE, and Matt Fults, PE.
“It’s a real honor for me to serve a place like EP at the managing partner level,” said Nordstom. “This really is a special place. I’m extremely proud of the work we do, but as importantly I’m proud of the type of company that we’ve become. I look forward to helping make EP a little bit better, a little bit stronger every day.”
Nordstrom currently leads EP’s operations activities, spearheading the planning, organizing and supervision of workflow and production, as well as managing staffing needs. Additionally, he’s the liaison to several clients and leads design efforts for numerous market segments including the fitness, healthcare and hospitality sectors. He’s also actively involved with the sales and marketing efforts of the company, a role that will likely expand in his new position.
Nordstrom cites both the company’s reputation for high-quality design and its commitment to its corporate values as two specific areas of interest. He said, “We’ve been around for 60 years and have worked hard to earn a reputation for creating designs that are both efficient and buildable. My hope is to extend our focus on producing system designs of exceptional quality.”
He went on, “Our three corporate values – family, service and trust – are also close to my heart. Mike, Scott and Matt have done an amazing job of lifting up these values and making them a real, vibrant part of the culture at EP. I’m excited to add to that conversation and ensure we continue to make EP a great place to work.”
Electrical engineer Matt Fults, PE, said, “This move to managing partner has been a long time coming for John. Again and again he’s shown his skill and capability not only as an engineer, but as a business leader. He understands the industry, he understands our clients and he absolutely excels at blending tried-and-true practices with progressive, innovative thinking.”
Fults continued, “Perhaps John’s greatest asset is his humble, easygoing leadership style. His background in the trades combined with his experience as an engineer has given him an amazing perspective on the A/E/C industry. But he still operates in the same friendly, down-to-earth manner as he did on day one of his career.”
Prior to joining EP in 2006, Nordstrom worked with another Minneapolis-based engineering firm as a Mechanical Designer. He is a graduate of the University of Minnesota with a bachelor of mechanical engineering degree, and of the University of Wisconsin-River Falls with a bachelor of science in applied physics degree.
