The efficient design of refrigeration systems for commercial buildings requires an intimate knowledge of refrigeration equipment and building control systems, as well as an in-depth understanding of how each interacts with the larger mechanical and electrical design of the building. It requires the engineer to fully understand the owner’s goals for the system so that first costs and life-cycle costs can be balanced. We believe that an integrated, right-sized, energy-efficient and maintainable system – for new construction or for existing structures – can only be achieved with a robust, tried-and-true design process that involves all stakeholders.
At EP, our refrigeration engineering department has both the experience and expertise to design systems that maximize energy savings while providing exceptional performance. Cold storage and specialty refrigeration project types include perishable food storage, grocery stores, hotels, manufacturing facilities, restaurants, medical facilities, ice rinks, and warehouses.
